The Civil Society Position Statement was written at a historic moment for One Health, as an official deliverable for the One Health Summit, part of France’s G7 Presidency in 2026. Thanks to the dedication of our contributors, this was a highlight of the Summit.
The position statement builds on our last publication, “Healthy Planet for Healthy Life!”, which brought together key recommendations from OSH for All Lyon 2025.
It carries a powerful message we brought forward to policymakers: civil society is not a peripheral stakeholder. It is a partner in governance, a guarantor of trust and social cohesion, and an agent for change and resilience.
The statement presents a collective vision for this change:
→ Beyond symbols: We are calling for structural integration and real accountability, moving past rhetorical recognition.
→ Protecting the future: From food systems to biodiversity, we demand policies that address the interconnected crises we face today.
→ A global movement: Supported by over 220 organisations from over 45 countries, the statement calls for sustained momentum post-Summit and emphasises the power of civil society in turning global commitments into real actions locally.
Together, we are shaping a stronger, more resilient future.
The statement remainds open to sign for organisations through the end of 2026 to align with France’s G7 Presidency.
