Ladies and Gentlemen, Dear Friends,

On the occasion of World One Health Day on November 3, Lyon will host the One Sustainable Health for All Forum from November 2 to 5, bringing together international experts in human, animal, and environmental health.

For four days, Lyon will become the capital of sustainable health, gathering field practitioners, researchers, leaders of NGOs, foundations, companies, and local as well as international institutions around a common goal: to align expertise and resources to operationalize the “One Sustainable Health” approach at the heart of the “Health – Environment – Social” nexus.

OSH for All Lyon 2025 follows the first two editions, OSH for All Lyon 2023 and OSH by All Dakar 2024, and will once again be preceded, as in 2023, by several international preparatory OSH Conferences (USA, Bangladesh, Brazil, China, India, Lebanon, Senegal, Balkans, etc.). These conferences are the foundation of our borderless collaborative process and contribute to the joint development of the Forum’s recommendations and of the conference “Science – Societies – Solidarity: What Priorities for Action and Investment?”

We are launching the OSH Factory, a collaborative space dedicated to the presentation and co-construction of operational projects linked to One Health / Planetary Health and the 2030 SDGs.

At the heart of the OSH Forum, experts engaged throughout the year in the 10 International Working Groups (IWGs) will share their recommendations on environmental health, sustainable food systems, education, financing models and governance, equitable access to health, the importance of data, as well as the challenges of sustainable health in urban settings and humanitarian contexts. They will agree on operational priorities to address today’s health, environmental, and social challenges.

Several OSH-labeled side events will also be organized to strengthen the community around One Sustainable Health and increase the visibility of OSH initiatives.

OSH for All Lyon 2025 is organized by the One Sustainable Health for All Foundation, under the aegis of the Institut Pasteur, in synergy with all organizations involved in the international OSH preparatory conferences.

With the support of the Agence Française de Développement (AFD), Foundation S – The Sanofi Collective, Institut Pasteur, Pasteur Network, Fondation de France, Fondation Veolia, Fondation Mérieux, the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region, the Lyon Metropolis, and the City of Lyon, we have the means to ensure the successful organization of this event.

We look forward to welcoming you in Lyon, or online, to jointly build—through a transdisciplinary and multi-stakeholder approach—new collaborative and inclusive pathways to tackle our health, environmental, and social challenges!

The Team of the One Sustainable Health for All Foundation

Organisation

The One Sustainable Health for All Foundation, under the aegis of the Institut Pasteur, was established on September 1, 2020 in Lyon, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Its aim is to foster dialogue and promote innovative projects between public and private partners in support of One Sustainable Health for All. This is pursued through collaborative and inclusive action, without borders, and aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 2030). The One Sustainable Health for All Foundation develops two complementary activities:

OEGH LOGO 150px

The One Sustainable Health (OSH) Forum was launched in 2021 to promote a transdisciplinary “One Health/Planetary Health” approach in line with the 2030 SDGs. It organizes conferences and leads International Working Groups (IWGs) aimed at facilitating the operational implementation of projects integrating human, animal and environmental health.

The One Europe for Global Health (OEGH) coalition was launched in 2022 during the French Presidency of the Council of the European Union to Promote the “One Sustainable Health” approach in the European Union’s international strategy and beyond. It is supported by the One Sustainable Health for All Foundation and the Virchow Foundation. The OEGH Coalition relies on the International Working Groups of the OSH Forum for advocacy actions towards Europe and its member states.

    Building a collaborative value chain: developing dengue treatments for global and European health security

    Dengue is a growing global and European threat, driven by climate change, urbanization, and expanding mosquito vectors. Outbreaks are surging in endemic regions and appearing with increasing frequency in Europe.
    Current tools — vector control, vaccines, supportive care — are essential but insufficient. There is still no specific antiviral treatment, leaving health systems vulnerable and patients at risk. Developing dengue therapeutics is a global health priority that requires a collaborative global model across the pharmaceutical value chain: from research and development to market shaping, access, and sustainable production.

    This session will convene diverse partners — funders, policymakers, product developers, and implementers — to explore how collaboration can accelerate the delivery of dengue treatments that serve both South and North.

    The IANPHI Climate Change Committee workshop will enable committee members to meet face-to-face (for the first time) and to review four years of activities, take stock of the progress made in the committee’s roadmap, the challenges encountered, and the wishes and needs for the coming years.

    Participants will also review the work done on heat-related health indicators, drawing on the results of a workshop organized last June jointly by the IANPHI Committee on Climate Change, Santé publique France, the World Meteorological Organization and the Robert Koch Institute. This first technical event addressed heat measurement indicators, with the aim of advancing the technical discussion and preparing a policy paper aimed at standardizing heat-related health indicators, with a view to adopting a framework of heat-related health indicators to be used by national public health institutes around the world. This work will also result in a declaration signed by NPHI representatives attending the next IANPHI Annual Meeting in Dubai in April 2026.

    Finally, this workshop will be a key opportunity for global collaboration, bringing together national public health institutes experts and partners from leading global health and environmental organizations, such as the World Meteorological Organization and the European Environment Agency.

    One Health Strengthening Europe: Insights from European Initiatives

    This side event organised by the European One Health Association (EOHA) and the French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety (ANSES) is dedicated to presenting major EU-funded initiatives that address the One Health approach in a fully effective way in the fields of human, veterinary and food public health. Several European initiatives are currently addressing the One Health approach, some of which also include the environmental, plant and ecosystem health.

    We have selected five main consortia with which the EOHA is in close contact. Given the number of large initiatives that include One Health in their activities, the challenge will be to consolidate their outcomes in order to efficiently advance cross-sectoral collaboration and achieve truly implementation of One Health across Europe. During this side event, each of the five EU initiatives will present their objectives, achievements in advancing One Health and challenges encountered. This will be followed by a panel discussion aiming at finding synergies and opportunities for beneficial cooperation among the initiatives.

    Speakers:
    Patriq FAGERSTEDT, Senior Research Officer, Swedish Research Council, Sweden;
    Pikka JOKELAINEN, Coordinator, Statens Serum Institut (SSI), Denmark;

    Advancing the implementation of the One-Health approach: lessons learned from the PREZODE projects

    In 2021, under the leadership of three French research institutions—INRAE, CIRAD, and IRD—the President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, launched the PREZODE Initiative. Now bringing together over 260 members, including 29 countries, this initiative aims to better prevent, reduce, and assess zoonotic transmission risks and to develop intersectoral strategies, in collaboration with local communities, to prevent the emergence and spread of zoonotic diseases through the implementation of the One Health approach.

    To this end, the PREZODE Initiative has deployed several field research projects designed to address the challenges of operationalizing the One Health approach—most notably the PREZODE/PREACTS program and its two projects, AFRICAM and ASAMCO, as well as various projects funded under the PEPR PREZODE, including HODAS (“New approaches for early detection of pathogens based on animal population dynamics”) and ZOLA (“Reducing zoonotic risks in live animal markets: towards structural interventions”).

    The overall objective of the side event will be to highlight the lessons learned from the One Health research projects implemented under the PREZODE initiative, aimed at addressing the challenges of translating the One Health approach into concrete action in the field.

    The specific objectives of the project are to:

    • Identify the main obstacles to implementing One Health projects within local communities;
      Exchange on the solutions developed to overcome these obstacles in the implementation of PREZODE projects;
    • Showcase the originality of the PREZODE project approach compared to similar initiatives that are not based on the One Health concept or community engagement.

    Speakers : Dr Guillaume FOURNIÉ, Junior Professor Chair (INRAE), specializing in health ecology and spatial epidemiology of emerging pathogens and vectors.; Dr Andres GARCHITORENA, Global Coordinator of the PREZODE/PREACTS program for IRD and Research Director at IRD (UMR MIVEGEC); Dr Soawapak HINJOY, Vice-President of the General Assembly of the PREZODE Initiative.; Pr Serge MORAND, Coordinator of the PREZODE/PREACTS/ASAMCO project in Thailand and Laos and Research Director at CNRS.; Dr Marie-Isabelle PEYRE, Global Coordinator of the PREZODE/PREACTS program for CIRAD, Co-founder of the PREZODE Initiative, and Epidemiologist (UMR ASTRE).; Mr Mauricianot RANDRIAMIHAJA, PhD candidate in Health and Biology, member of the PREZODE/PREACTS/AFRICAM project team in Madagascar.

    Moderator :
    Dr. Manon LOUNNAS – Coordinator of the PEPR PREZODE program, Scientific Officer within the PREZODE Initiative Secretariat, and Researcher at IRD (UMR MIVEGEC).

    One Health for Cities, from ambition to realization? An immersive and shared experience

    This side event has two main objectives:

    1- To present the local ecosystem aimed at developing One Health approaches in the Lyon metropolitan area. In particular, we seek to show how we are creating synergy between academia and local authorities and how our projects participate to the development of a One Health methodology and governance in urban areas.

    2- To experiment, based on a specific project, the Glocal perspective. Through an immersive experimentation based on the setting up of a local project, the workshop will explore specificities and universalities underlying the One Health approach.

    Would you like to organize a side event as part of OSH for All Lyon 2025?

    Side events are open to NGOs, foundations, companies, and any public or private organization wishing to host a moment of exchange around the OSH approach.

    Several time slots are available: 1.5 hours, half-day, or full-day.
    Side events will be held at the WHO Academy or the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC).
